* Internet fads/trends
* Internet primarily as a vehicle for commerce
* Constant nudges to consume as the world falls apart
* Algorithms shepherding people into categories based on consumption preferences
* Systems failing people more when they don't fit a convenient category
But guessing how this might be did nothing to prevent it.
