Modern parenting advice is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve had people tell me that setting boundaries with my kids is cruel to them. We have everything baby proofed because my sons are menaces and I don’t want to either clean up giant messes or have to take them to the doctor because they got hurt doing something ridiculous and that’s apparently restricting their freedom. A friend recently sent me a video where a toddler mom put a pool noddle at the top of her toddler’s door so it couldn’t be slammed any more and damage the house and she got ridiculed for not respecting her child’s privacy (and it was a recently walking baby).

We limit screen time, send them outside to play with friends all the time, and read to them. There’s still plenty of sassiness in our house.
