Puttin' everything that happens in Russia under one blanket term "communism" is a bit too simplistic for me. Certainly, there is a common denominator, but I'd rather call it imperialism, and date it way back, at least to Peter "The Great".
And similarily - putinism has nothing to do with communism, either. It is, pure and simple, ethnocentric imperialism, fueled by an artificial mixture of resentments and false memory, very closely to the post-Great-War dynamics in Germany (so efficiently utilised by one underappreciated aquarelist).
