Most who seriously think about #Bitcoin come to these questions.

To me it makes sense to think in layers.

Most don't even think about the fact you treat your life savings different than the money one uses to do groceries.
So the concept shouldn't be that strange to apply to #Bitcoin to.

Your life savings and big purchase will be done onchain.
And even that could change in the future if fees become really expensive.
The rest I do via LN, but expect even that won't be the last development.
I even heard about an app used in Africa where no network connection is needed, haven't done any research on how that works, and the inevitable risks involved?

I run a node but don't use it active.
There are plenty of LN wallets where you have your own keys but use centralized servers to transact, so self custody but no need to use your own LN node.

What you need/want is up to you.
Quite a range of choices from custodial wallets to using your own node.

And than we have to see what the future brings.
Could be there are more things out there I'm not aware of.
I don't have the need for new solutions for now.

The mempool being almost empty and low fees show no real need right now, but things can change rapidly.
