THE SHIP OF THESEUS PARADOX

Imagine an ancient ship, the legendary Ship of Theseus. Over the years, its wooden planks decay and are gradually replaced, one by one, until every single part has been swapped for a new one. Now, here’s the paradox:

Is it still the same ship?

But let’s go further. What if someone gathers all the old, discarded planks and builds another ship? Now we have two ships—one entirely made of new materials, and one reconstructed from the original parts.

Which one is the real Ship of Theseus?

This paradox isn’t just about ships—it applies to personal identity, consciousness, and even blockchain forks. If all the cells in your body regenerate every seven years, are you still the same person? If a blockchain undergoes a hard fork, which version is the "true" one?

So, what do you think? Does identity come from the parts, the whole, or something deeper?

Drop your thoughts below!

If all the cells in your body regenerate every 7 years, are you still the same person?

That question arouse from a paradox called "The Theseus Ship" which states that
"If you replace every part of a ship, piece by piece, until none of the original remains—is it still the same ship? Now, what if you use those old parts to build another ship? Which one is the real Ship of Theseus?"

What you do you think? 🤔
