Some evidence says otherwise. Since when does a rebellious colony go on to become your greatest ally? This is more than a random anomaly. The Queen and Uncle Sam have been in bed together since day one. If you're familiar with the USSR's "Perestroika," this is when they rebranded to the new modern version of Russia. Some suggest that the British Empire did the same much longer ago. The octopus of the British Empire had to decide which tentacles to keep and which to cut. Having already set the colonies on the path of indefinite "whiteness" and full adoption of the English language, they no longer required complete outright subjugation. They would, in effect, operate as the royal family's proxy with complete deniability. This would also explain why the colonies would go on to become the global brutes and violent enforcers, a role the British deemed themselves too classy to physically partake in unless it was simple low-hanging fruit. So, in that sense, the War of Independence was a farce because they only became independent enough to go on to need the British Empire for any global legitimacy. The more successful the colonies become, the more the Queen smiles because it's the continued likeness, language, and Anglo supremacy ideology.
