So there's this chap on YT who designs and 3D prints model aircraft, ranging from scaled real aircraft to some of those fantasy concepts seen in movies. He acts like he is just cobbling these things together, not knowing whether or not they'll work, tossing them into the air to see what happens. Yet, every time, they all do. In many cases, very well.
I am a believer in the notion of 'Beginner's Luck', but given the number of models he has done, there is no way his luck is that good. This cat knows exactly what he is doing.
So, a few weeks ago, we casually reached out to him with a singular email, asking if he would be interested in applying his talents towards full scale aircraft. No offer was extended yet obviously; we just wanted to gauge his interest. I mean, why not, right? (on the record, no, the individual is not Peter Sripol or that RamyRC cat)
Earlier today, we received a letter from an attorney, telling us to 'cease & decist further communications' with this guy.
A simple 'no thanks' or no response at all would have been perfectly acceptable, but a legal threat? Seriously??
This is like someone who hastily plays covers on YT for tens of likes saying fuck you to a very popular band that wanted him, or a rabbi taking a pass on vandalizing his own synagogue and playing victim on the evening news. It just does not make any sense.
Is that where we are at today? Perferring an easy dollar from social media over a challenging but rewarding career...and a better life for him and his family? This guy is absolutely no different than an e-thot who insists on living in her simp-funded paradise over contributing anything of value to her community.
I'm not knocking model airplanes at all, and if that is all he wants to do in life, that's fine, but the talent purportedly demonstrated in this guy's content would be such a huge gain to any aircraft engineering firm in the prototyping & developmental testing business like we are; you'd think he would have at least been willing to hear us out. Maybe his content is misrepresentative- not reflecting actual reality; where there are highly skilled people behind the camera doing the real work? I don't know.
Either way, WTF is wrong with some of these people?
