Just heard about Tracy Chapman receiving a much deserved CMA award for this song (yeah I'm five days late)... I'm probably biased because she was and still is my favourite musician, but Fast Car is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. It's right up there with Talkin' 'Bout a Revolution (another of Tracy's songs, from the same album).
