A year ago, nobody had ever tried to ban drag, so courts have never ruled on whether drag is free speech or not.
The law passed attempting to outlaw drag. That's bad!
But the Trump appointed judge looked at it and said, naw, this is blatantly unconstitutional. He then ruled that drag is protected.
That means that, at least in that district, drag is explicitly protected by precedent.
