In medieval times, if you were part of the nobility, it was common place to bring in your own utensils (and even plates) to restaurants. High quality utensils were a way that nobles showed off their wealth and class. Some had numerous sets of utensils so intricate that they'd cost more than the average commoner made in salary.
I believe we should bring part of this tradition back, but not just for the bourgeoisie but for everuone. I don't think that carrying plates around is worth the inconvenience, but I'll say that I will personally start bringing my own personal utensils to restaurants. They won't be as intricate as those of yesteryear but I'd like to bring this tradition back.
Who's with me on this?
