UUuugh JIRA has a syntax for exact text search (insert escaped quotes, e.g. \"search this\") BUT but but.. it always performs stemming on search words anyway. E.g. if you do an exact search for "closing", you'll get all tickets that contain "closed".

The index only stores stems.
