One of the things I noticed recently about RPGs is how hard they are to read if you're out of practice. Like academic papers if you are reading them every day you get a mental patter going, they fall into a system and you can swish through them. You stop noticing if they have signposting for novice readers. You don't even remember what that was like. Then you come back to gaming after a long time and rules are utter opaque, and you feel RPG myopic.
