When I signed, granting permission, I added, before my signature, "In-network providers only" and so far, three out of network medical providers have wiped their bills because they weren't authorized for payment and when they gave their treatment, it wasn't during the period of the actual emergency. Two more are still fussing about it.
One of the three raised a little hell until I told them I would contest their billing with the insurance, who had paid them thousands of dollars, who would most likely side with me and get their thousands of dollars back. Did they really, really want to fight over $221.13?
