Honestly the fact that eclipses pull people into random parts of the landscape ill-suited for such large gatherings is a feature, not a bug. The traffic is terrible (though subjectively much better than 2017) but there’s something cool about tens of thousands of uncorrelated people standing in the same random field to appreciate the same four minutes.
