This election needed to be about democracy and the fate of the human enterprise. It wasn't as it was about the economy even though Trump will wreck the economy beyond all recognition if he does what he said he would do. Americans simply can't see beyond their perceived immediate needs as they condemn their descendants to a life of misery, deprivation, and unbearable heat.
