This is one of the things that gets lost in discussions about the fediverse not doing well on moderation, propagation of replies, and so forth.
Bluesky is basically the equivalent of a large Mastodon instance that federates with nobody, and enforces a single moderation policy. In many ways, it's an apple vs. oranges comparison.
Which is something to keep in mind when people point at what Mastodon and the fediverse are bad at; it isn't the same playing field, both in terms of its technical structure, as well as the funding allocated to it.
