I think the difference is in the copyright cases, they know they're going to win on the merits. The procedure isn't fair but if you print someone else's art on your product and sell it, that's infringement. With these patent cases, they can't actually prove infringement so they depend on unrepresented sellers defaulting and not realizing that the products do NOT infringe.
