It's true that it still cannot replace manual labor... but they've already devalued that sector to almost nothing.
The west moved towards a service-based economy. AI seems to integrate very well with the service model that they've built. They're making bets that it's going to pay off.
Still not sure what they have in mind for everyone else though.
