"content": "there is not recommendation algorithm here; hashtags are all we have, so we follow a lot of them. Following hashtags is also unique to Mastodon afaik. \n\nDon't take it personally, it's just a different culture here. If I follow #cat and you pop into my TL to say \"I hate #cats\" I have a right to dress you down. \n\nIf you don't like it, you can simply /not/ use hashtags, you'll live.",
