“Bob” won’t let me go. I told him I was done, told him it’s time for a new personal savior, but he just kept showing up. I’d be out, in a church or comic store, looking for someone else to worship, only to feel a tapping on my shoulder. I’d hear his deep booming voice before I saw his trademark pipe and smile. “That’ll be $19.99.” Suddenly, like a rabbit in heat, my every urge and impulse would lead me to emptying my wallet for him. THAT SLICK SNAKE DOESN’T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER.
