I had 3 cats, triplets from the same litter. When they were about 3 years old, my 4th cat, Millie, passed. A few months later I adopted (adult) Mickey. He was immediate friends with Purl and Tot, and he really wants to be friends with Tuxi, but she still, 3 years later, doesn't like him. But they keep out of each other's way, there's no more growling, she just occasionally swats at him. To be fair though, I don't even think she likes her brothers... lol.
