We really need "right to repair" laws in Canada and the USA.
And I fully blame Apple and their long pattern of "planned obsolescence" they've been on ever since they removed the ability to change batteries in their devices. That was a huge part.
Also, appliances in general have become extremely difficult and expensive to repair out of warranty. By design. This has to end. Companies won't do it, so governments have to. For everything: the environment, your wallet, and peace of mind.
But the Canadian government doesn't have the balls to do it. And the US government is bought and paid for, and will never do it. At least Europe is taking the lead here.
