The perverse incentive is that cars, which cost as much as a small house and become worthless in 10 years, are a MASSIVE industry. This creates “employment” for millions, and this ridiculous cycle of spending, production, road network matinenance, etc. creates “output” in this thing called GDP. Which btw goes UP if you blow up a bridge and rebuild it.",
