As we get deeper and deeper into the bottomless tragedy of the neverending war in the middle east, the thing that becomes most salient to me is: when you have an unparalleled superpower like the US presiding over a so-called "global community" the potential for the abuse of that power is truly unlimited. And this universal lesson illuminates the underlying evil of all such hierarchies, whether they be in government, business, civil society or even the household.
