What a great take from Luke Broyles (npub1pwz…tdyp) on his X account (yes, I do still look at X occasionally to see content from people I respect who aren’t yet on Nostr or, as in Luke’s case, don’t post regularly on it):
“If you are 30 years old with 1 #Bitcoin you are in the top 0.0001%.
Let me explain.
Majority of early #Bitcoin adopters (which includes you) are men between 35-65.
This means millions of coins will begin transition from 2045-2075 as this generation passes on.
90% of the 400,000 wholecoiners from the “early days” of 2009-2035 will be dead by 2080 or so.
75% of the young wholecoiners from those “early days” in the 2010s and 2020s are still alive but either sold, lived off of, or lost enough #BTC out of their wholecoiner status.
The only thing more rare than being a wholecoiner in 2025 is to be a wholecoiner in 2075 who worked for said coin in their youth.
The majority of wholecoiners after the 2070s will not themselves have made that #Bitcoin in their lifetime, but inherited from their parents.
There is nothing wrong with inheriting wealth, but it would make you unique in being one of the wholecoiners left.
In the year 2085 there may be less than 10,000 people that can say:
“I shook Michael @saylor’s hand.”
“@adam3us replied to my post once.”
“Back in my day people could buy 0.05 #BTC off a normal income.”
“I made it to 1 #Bitcoin before America started buying it… and I didn’t lose it.”
All ages should focus on getting as much #Bitcoin as possible but in particular young people under 30.
Assuming 11 billion people in the future this would make you 1 in 1,100,000.
Perhaps over the next 50 years we invent significant life extent in technologies… This only makes these concepts more imperative. More will survive into the future but each decade you live extends the impact forward even more-so.
We have less in common with the future than the past… In 60 years the world of 11 billion people will look to you in a rare light.
You lived in an era that is now technologically ancient to them.
You were one of the few that saw their modern world before their other grandparents could see it.
If you have 1 #Bitcoin under 30 you have each foot in two entirely different worlds. You’re passing the baton from the ancient world into the modern world none of us can see yet.
I do everything I can to internalize this likely outcome. Not because it makes me any better of a man but the precise opposite… We are in the right place and the right time therefore the reward (and responsibility) will be great.
We are the visionaries of today and the revered historical artifacts of tomorrow.
Our grandkids will be living in a sea of digital receipts but you will be one of the few thousand living breathing people left representing the billions of people before them.
The principles and character you build over the next 50 years will be what billions look toward in the future as they handle technology we can’t yet fathom.
#Bitcoin is important but youth more-so and your character the most.
Less than 10,000 will hold the title you have now.
You’re 1 in 1,100,000.
Don’t fumble the shot.”
