My 2sats: I think standard privacy, data protection, consent, code of conduct … is a good place to start, plus any principles specific to that relay. Just to communicate to those who connect to that relay, what they can expect. At the moment this is all under the radar, but as this ecosystem evolves and grows I think the onus will be on clients and relay operators to put in place guide rails both for the users and themselves, to acknowledge accountability for their role in facilitating the exchange of messages / content that will range from contentious to illegal. And if it’s a paid relay, there will certainly be other considerations that can be mitigated by communicating and applying governance principles up front.
