there is one state in the u.s. where it's far more common to see the state flag everywhere you go instead of the u.s. flag. i think it matters.

i wish this was more common in other states tbh. i think people would feel a deeper sense of responsibility and togetherness if they had a more specific, regional symbol to rally behind

people feel a closer allegience to their sense of place and comaraderie with their community. it's more personal and local. using a sports analogy: people fight for their team and wear their team's jersey, but in the end they're all bound together by shared love of the same sport
