There are all kinds of professions that run on vocational awe: teaching, daycares, eldercare, and of course, nursing.

Techies are different from those workers though, because they've historically been incredibly scarce, so while bosses could motivate them to work on projects they believed in for long hours, the minute bosses ordered them to enshittify the projects they'd missed their mums' funerals to hit deadline on these workers would tell their bosses to fuck off.
