Mar on Nostr: I'm reading a post about taking things literally, and I'm going to share this. My son ...

I'm reading a post about taking things literally, and I'm going to share this.

My son went to an outdoor summer camp, which require a lot of planning (well, a lot for my ability). So I carefully read each item in the checklist sent by the camp. When I got to the sunscreen part, it read: "send a little bit of sunscreen in a small zip-lock bag".

The first thing I imagined was squirting out sunscreen from the kid's bottle into a zip lock bag.

I tensed up. How do I know how much to put? How is he going to get it out of the bag? It'll be so messy and sticky.. Maybe they'll cut a corner of the bag and get it out like pastry cream? But then it will spill? Do I need a new zip lock bag every day? Oh no, I don't have enough small ziplock bags because I don't like packing things in plastic so I never buy them. And so on. Eventually I marked the item to come back to it later.

Hours later I realized maybe it meant "pack a small bottle of sunscreen in a zip lock bag to prevent spillage".... could it be that simple? .... I don't know, but that's what I did.

The thing is, I still don't know what they wanted 🤷‍♀️

Edit to say I actually felt a lot of shame around this, but I'm trying to find the humor.
