Some context: 1PM today FOMC cuts rates 25bps which was expected, but the Fed's dot plot and Powell commentary were not expected. So what's a dot plot?
The FOMC dot plot charts the future path of interest rates as voted on by the members of the FOMC. 1 dot = 1 voting member. This plot therefore provides additional insight to the market about where all FOMC members stand in terms of the future path of rate cuts/hikes.
