When you set up a trade with low delta/gamma, you are mostly trading on extrinsic value, so Vega but also theta. When they work together you can make reasonable profit even without much of a market move. Do I get help from price moves? Sure. But a lot of the time it’s not from that. My goal with price moves is to lower their impact. That is not how most retail traders that I see online do it. I’m not knocking them, if they can make consistent money, then it works for them. But I‘m not a deep technical trader and I don’t pick direction very well. So this is how I like to trade.
