Well, they are certainly very welcome. A year ago we had 5 internalists - but none of them lived here. They just did 20% time. Obviously, that means we are covered all the time, but are short of specialists and GP's both. I am blessed with my own doctor (south african), because years ago when I first needed one, all my nursey friends told me to try and sign on with him, but many people need to use walk-in clinics or simply go to A&E. - no choice.
As well, I sometimes hear than an emergency room in one town or another up here simply shut down for a day or two for lack of staff.
The shortage is really know joke my friend.
