Let's talk about Catalina Faraday. They are non-binary, highly-strung, a bit insane (but nothing a doctor can't help with medications and chip tweaks), and a member of the Glitch Mob gang. They offer an insight into what can possibly go wrong when it comes to tech. They've just had /too much/ done, and it's messed with their mind. Their chip isn't quite right, possibly an older model or something that was cheaper and tweaked ever-so-slightly for violent purposes. Perhaps Dante could help with that, though. You never know. (Spoilers, right? Maybe.)
As far as their main purpose in the story goes, they serve to offer something for the gang to forgive. Destiny's Maelström, I mean, which is Alexios' gang.
"With understanding comes forgiveness."
Without giving away any major spoilers, I will say this. If Catalina WERE to leave their gang and seek out Dante's help, perhaps they might one day join Alexios' group during a situation where an extra gunned "man" was needed. Perhaps, without even seeking out forgiveness, it might be found. They might even learn how to forgive themselves as well, and how to seek out help for their own issues with technology they're carrying within their own body.
