By volume three, so about 12 issues in, the series is hitting its stride: usually, one story per volume will explore the backstory (here, the all important introduction of the Yagyu clan as the arch-nemesis), a couple more will see the Assassin carry out a mission where the client tries to kill him in the end, etc. I'm still entertained, but I can now see on the horizon the point when the repetition becomes tedious.
