To be precise, the study wasn't looking at "normal" fabric or paper tea bags to see if there were plastic contaminants, but *only* at plastic polymer tea bags.
Newsweek, which is no longer a reliable source, seems to have rewritten the headline to a "tea is bad" headline rather than the more accurate "plastic tea bags are bad".
