Hycean worlds are exoplanets with liquid water oceans surrounded by thick hydrogen atmospheres. This could keep them habitable beyond the traditional habitable zone where liquid water could exist on the surface of a terrestrial planet. A couple of candidate hycean worlds have been found already, and now astronomers think they've found a new one: TOI-270 d, a Neptune-sized planet orbiting a star 73 light-years away. JWST found methane and carbon dioxide in its atmosphere.
