Samsung has unveiled a new feature as part of the second experimental version of One UI 7.0, which is based on Android 15. This feature is called 'Notification Filtering' and aims to improve the way notifications are managed on Samsung phones, making the notification shade more organized and reducing clutter. This feature allows users to filter notifications into three main categories: Background Activities notifications, which are sent by apps to notify users of background activities; Minimized Notifications, which are notifications that users have minimized manually; and Old Notifications, which are notifications that users have not interacted with for more than a few days. Users can customize these categories individually, providing precise control over the display or hiding of notifications based on their personal needs. To access this feature, users can go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings > Notification Filtering. This feature is a refinement of notification management, as Samsung had previously removed the default notification categorization with One UI 6.1, but provided an option to restore it when needed. This feature is expected to improve the user experience by making the notification shade easier to use and less cluttered, and is expected to be part of a broader range of improvements in One UI 7, including enhanced security, new AI-powered features, and changes to the user interface, such as the interactive Now Bar on the lock screen.
