DM Tipp: I print out high-res maps at scale to use them for playing. I start converting them to PDF (I use GIMP, but any graphics program will do), then print them using the poster print mode of Acrobat Reader. Cutting takes a bit of effort. Finally I use small plexiglass sheets (can be found at Amazon) so that the paper stays in place and you can easily move your minis on top).
