Yet I personally tend to think along the followig lines when I think about the sacred:

When you need someone else's interpretation of god, you:

Don't trust in your own capacity to critically think

Delegate the burden of critical thinking to someone else

Trust in their critical thinking

Hence, you believe in that someone one else, but not in god.
