I feel it would be helpful for people to understand that "tracking" ad performance (attribution) is not the same thing as tracking people (frequently used for targeting ads).
The former enables an advertiser to understand which of their campaigns (often mumerous simultaneously) work to bring them visibility and traffic, and doesn't *need* to invade privacy.
The latter collects individual profiles in order to drive bidding and ad selection and can be incredibly invasive to people's privacy.
