It is likely that the #Alaska eastern Bering Sea Snow Crab #fishery may be at a sudden permanent end. There was some thought of the #crab population moving northward to avoid the warming temperatures, but a new study (linked in article) convincingly indicates billions of Snow Crabs starved due to huge increased metabolic cost of warming from #ClimateChange. Harvest likely played some role in stressing the population, and NOAA likely won't open the fishery anytime soon.
