You're actually describing exactly what did:nostr achieves!
It’s a DID method where the identifier is the key, and resolution is fully decoupled from any particular relay. You just need one that (coincidentally) has the pubkey— in the Relay Set, it could be anywhere. From there, the DID document gives you all services. You’re not tied to any specific infra, DNS, or provider.
So in this case, DIDs and Nostr are working hand in hand!
