And the thing is that when I started looking visibly Jewish in my day to day life, most of those lefty Jews turned their backs on me. I'm very bitter about that.
Whereas the few people at my shul who know my views are still super welcoming (so long as I stick to expressing those views only in private). Even some very right wing Jews I know in the observant community are more accepting of my peacenik views than my former friends on the Jewish left.
