When Rowling says "there's no such thing as trans kids", pointing out the existence of trans kids is useful rhetoric for a broader audience but it does absolutely nothing to transphobes. They know full well that trans adults didn't spring out of Zeus' head. Rowling is saying that if you terrorize and torture children enough they'll never come out of the closet.
