Is anyone old enough to remember the Page Program in Congress?

The Capitol page program brought high school students to Washington D.C. to work on the Hill. Several sexual misconduct scandals led to its discontinuation in the House.

The program was marred by incidents of sexual misconduct involving both teenage pages and adult supervisors. Notable cases include:

Dan Crane (1983): The House Ethics Committee found that Republican Rep. Dan Crane of Illinois preyed on a 17-year-old female page.

Gerry Studds (1983): The same committee also found that Democratic Rep. Gerry Studds of Massachusetts targeted a 17-year-old boy.

Mark Foley (2006): Rep. Mark Foley resigned after sending lewd messages to male pages.

House ended its page program in August 2011
