Some people dismiss protests by pointing out that many of the same protesters turn up for many causes: Palestine, climate, anti-police brutality, etc. But is it so surprising that people who want to make the world better take part in many causes fighting for peace and justice?
As MLK said: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly." King himself took part in many struggles: civil rights, labor, anti-war, and more.
What did people at the time call MLK? An outside agitator who just wanted to protest, who should stop talking about Vietnam and stick to Black civil rights. But he recognized that all injustice is linked, and he showed up for other struggles.
