what i keep saying about #nostr it's more about the folks behind the communities rather than the tech driving the platform, as i see
nostr itself is a well-thought-out protocol, based on cryptographic key pairs and events spread across a network of relays. by design, it's supposed to be #censorship-resistant, at least in theory, and i like that.
unlike mastodon, which shifts the trust model from one party to another, albeit a much more benign one, it still retains some of the issues that nostr aimed to address (like the actual “ownership” thorugh hosting problematic), and i reckon that's a good thing in principle.
however, as of now, there isn't much variety in terms of #socialization - it's mere bitcoin-related folks and a little more. that's why i'm looking forward to giving the protocol another shot once it's populated by a more diverse and interesting crowd. hopefully, that'll happen soon.
