Be honest--how messy is your writing space at the moment?
Not so messy that I cannot write!
The monitor shelf helps immensely. It elevates them to a proper height so I don't mess up my neck and provides a lot of shelf space for all of the items necessary for writing.
Also, I made this desk just wide enough to allow space for a cat not needing to be on top of the keyboard.
