the biggest issue with mastodon/activitypub is what pushed me to build damus on nostr: when the tyrannical admin eventually bans you, you lose your entire social graph and have to start over. nostr fixes this by giving the power back to users to control their own data. the servers are just redundant backup databases and have little power over the individual.
