As someone who passes for white (I'm mixed race) and is seen as a cis-agender male, there's little chance of that happening due to privilege.
I stand up for the most vulnerable in our society not out of 'enlightened self interest' but out of simple human decency and kindness.
We need to be be allies—not because 'that could be me', but because the evil of hatred of 'the other'.
